Monyog aka SQL Diagnostic Manager for MySQL 8.9.5 General Availability

We are pleased to announce the general availability of SQL Diagnostic Manager (SDM) for MySQL 8.9.5  Existing users may upgrade to this version through the Customer Portal. New users may download the trial version from the Webyog Website.

Rebranded from the popular Monyog product for monitoring performance of MySQL and other MySQL compatible databases, SDM for MySQL is  a comprehensive solution to monitor, alert, and diagnose the availability, health, and performance of MySQL, or MariaDB in physical, virtual, and cloud environments.

SQL Diagnostic Manager for MySQL addresses the most critical performance management needs of DBAs.

• Monitor in real-time to take corrective action and resolve significant issues even before they affect end users
• Track and compare all changes to the MySQL or MariaDB configuration file to identify the reason for performance issues
• Monitor, alert to, and kill locked and long-running SQL queries in real-time to reduce system and database load
• Monitor on-premises and in the cloud.  Monitor Amazon RDS for MySQL, MariaDB, Amazon Aurora, and Google Cloud SQL for MySQL including operating systems and file-based logs
• Find top 10 SQL queries across MySQL or MariaDB servers based on total execution time

With this release, we aim to strengthen the ability of SQL Diagnostic Manager for MySQL to monitor databases in the cloud and on-premises with a single tool.  

What’s New in SQL Diagnostic Manager for MySQL 8.9.5?

Our latest release of SQL Diagnostic Manager for MySQL 8.9.5 includes the following new features and quality improvements.

Full support for SkySQL

SkySQL started as the database-as-a-service offering of MariaDB, and has since been spun-off as a separate company.  SkySQL aims to compete with Amazon Aurora for applications requiring scale-out for read and write operations.  DM for MySQL integrates through an API to get access to slow query, edit, and audit logs in addition to OS statistics. All of this added information is augmented by the existing functionality to monitor standard MySQL statistics from system tables.

The support for SkySQL adds to DM for MySQL’s already extensive support for MySQL-based DBaaS platforms including:

• Amazon Aurora
• Amazon RDS for MySQL
• Azure DB for MySQL
• Google Cloud SQL 
• SkySQL 

An added improvement with this release is the capability to override the Long Running Query alert threshold for selected individual queries.  Users can now avoid choosing between getting false alerts from queries that typically run longer or missing alerts about queries that run longer than typical.

Users may also monitor logs and get OS metrics from Amazon Aurora Serverless, support added with this release.
